GISBORNE FORESTERS
INDOOR BOWLS TEAMS The fortnightly meeting of Court William Gladstone, No. 6030, Ancient Order of Foresters, was held in the Masonic Hall, Childers road, on Monday evening, when there was a good attendance of members. The chair was occupied by the chief ranger, Mr. R. Neilson, and the following past chief rangers accompanied him on the dais: Messrs. F. H. Sell, E. File, H. O. Hansen, J. Williamson, J. A. Watt, G. A. File and E, T. Gilchrist. The woodwards reported that the number of members On the sick fund was small, and that the majority were making good progress towards recovery. It • was decided to ask the secretary of the Friendly Societies' Council, Mr. J. Williamson, to circularise all lodges calling a meeting to discuss ways and means of operating the medical benefits of the social security scheme. The next indoors bowling tournament for the Foresters Shield will be held in the Mangagapa Hall this evening, and the following teams were selected to represent the court. — A,Team: W. Sinton, A. Hair, K. O’Connell, H. O. Hansen. B Team: V. Clement. G, A. File, J. Williamson, R. Neilson. C Team: R\ Cade, C. Prycc, F. 11. Sell, E. File. Reserve: R. Mitchell.
A hearty welcome was extended to Mr. R. Cade, who has returned to the district after five years’ absence and who was recently demobilised from the army. Final arrangements for the children’s Christmas tree function, to be held on Saturday, December 20, were made, and it was intimated that the one-act play to be produced by Mrs. V. Clement was making good progress. The remainder of the evening was spent playing indoor bowls.
