MURDER MYSTERY

PYJAMA GIRL; CASE CLAIM OF A DOCTOR DISCOUNTED. BY POLld SYDNEY, Nov. 12. , Interest in one of the world’s greatest murder mysteries —the case of the Albury Pyjama Girl—has been revived by a Sydney doctor, Dr. T. A. Palmer-Benbow, who has made a statutory declaration that he caii identify the victim as Anna Philomeria Morgan. The New South Wales Attorney-' General. Mr. C. Martin, called for the police file dealing with Anna Morgan after a Country Party member, Mr. Frith, had psked in the House if Dr. Benbow's request for a non-depart-mental inquiry into his claims had been refused. The Chief Secretary, Mr. Baddeley, stated yesterday that the police would not continue inquiries along the lines suggested by Dr. Benbow. * The pyjama-cladr partially-burned,-and shockingly-injured body of an unknown girl was found under a culvert near Albury, on the border of New South Wales and Victoria, on the morning of September 1, 1934. The police say that there is no known solution of the mystery. Dr. Benbow believes the murdered girl was-AnryT Morgan, who disappeared from her

Sydney home some time before the murder. His story is supported by Mrs. J. Rutledge, of Bomaderry, on the south coast, 100 miles frOm Sydney, who says she is the Pyjama Girl’s mother. Police are scornful of Dr. Benbow's claims. Thily made extensive inquiries about Anrtfi Morgan and came to the conclusion- -she - v/as not the Pyjama • Girl,-They claim to have traced her to Queensland, and. there lost her trail; but they, suspect that she was identical with a girl who was found stabbed to dfiath in a house at Ayr, North Queensland, on October 4, 1932. The murdered girl was known as Jean jMOgd^ij.but.papers found in her room SUggesiecl she was-Alina Morgan. Her 'mill’derer was not traced.
