MALTA AS AIR BASE
IMPORTANCE IN CAMPAIGN LONDON. Nov. 21. The importance of Malta as a base for aircraft in the present African campaign was emphasised by the commentator Mr. Oliver Stewart. It was in an excellent position for attacks on the enemy’s supply lines, and as a consequence in a few days' time it would probably hove to withstand more onslaughts by the enemy. Malta's anti-aircraft barrage, he added, was considered to be the heaviest in the world.
