TENNIS CLUB OPENING (Herald Correspondent.) Bright sunshine favoured the opening of. the Puha Tennis Club’s season last Saturday afternoon. There were 20 players. The courts were in good order, and afternoon tea was served in the hall supper-room. The result of a Yankee tournament was: Miss N. Coates and Ojais, four wins: Miss N. Newing and K. Perston (Motu), three wins, one loss; Miss N. Castles and R". Coates, and Mrs. Ojais and L. Cameron, two wins and one loss each. Other players included Misses M. Peach, M. Newing, U. Reed (Motu), A. Richardson (Motu), R. and J. Newton, and Mrs. Malone. In the evening a dance was held in the Puha Ilall. There was a good attendance and music was supplied by Miss U. Reed. Motu. Mr. G. Thompson acted as M.C.. and enjoyable extras were played by Misses N. Coates and Olive Peach. Non-dancers enjoyed a game of euchre, from which Mrs. Thompson and Mr. Black emerged the winners. The winners of the Monte Carlo waltz were Miss M. Shelton and Mr. J. Bennett, and a spot waltz was won by Miss M. Pevreal and Master J. Drummond. A delicious supper was served by members of the tennis club.

Miss D. McCarthy was the weekend guest of Mrs. Neshausen.—Miss N. Castles was the guest of Miss J. Newton for the week-end. The next social function to be held is a dance early in December in aid of the soldiers’ parcels fund.
