SOLDIERS AFTER WAR
ABSORPTION IN INDUSTRY LICENSE RESTRICTIONS The danger of restricting licenses militating against the absorption of ex-soldiers in industry after the war was expressed by Mr. G. W. Hutchison. secretary of the Automobile Association, Auckland, at a meeting of members in Gisborne last night. Mr. Hutchison stressed the point that the association was strictly nonpolitical, and was established merely to serve the interests of motorists, and whatever Government was in power it did all in its power to oppose legislation that the association believed was not in the interests of motorists. In the past, the great expansion of the motor trade has given employment to a large number of men, and he wondered if the motor trade had given serious thought to what the licensing of industries meant to the expansion oi their trade after the war. If the motor industry was to be restricted b> all sorts of licensing that would keep the trade in the hands of a few, it Would restrict :the huge task of re-absorbing men as they returned from the war.
