BISHOP OF NELSON

CONFIRMATION SERVICES GISBORNE AND DISTRICT During the week-end several confirmation services were held in Gisborne and district by the Bishop of Nelson, the Rt. Rev. P. W. Stephenson, deputising for the Bishop of Waiapu, who is chaplain with the forces in the Middle East. At Holy Trinity Church, Gisborne, yesterday, His Lordship held two services, one in the afternoon and the other in the evening, 133 candidates coming forward, this being the largest number presented in the history of the parish. In the morning, a large congregation assembled in St. John’s Church, Te Karaka, for a similar service, while the previous evening confirmation was administered in the church at Waerenga-a-hika, this following a visit to Tolaga Bay the previous evening. To-day Bishop Stephenson travelled to Wairoa for the purpose of confirming further candidates.
