NO COLOURED CHEESE

DOMINION INTENTION INCREASING EXPORTS (Per Press Association.) WELLINGTON, this day. As from Saturday next, no coloured cheese will be manufactured in New Zealand, either for export purposes or tire local market, until the present slate of emergency ceases. The necessary authority l'or the change is contained in a cheese manufacturing restriction order gazetted last night. For some time past the United Kingdom has been taking only white cheese from New Zealand and the order has been brought down to obtain uniformity in manufacture as a war measure. Colouration in cheese adds nothing to its food value and it is felt that the quantity of coloured cheese manufactured for the local market was So small that it did not warrant continuation. Moreover, if uniformity is achieved it is hoped it might result in more cheese being sent overseas.
