HERD TEST AVERAGES GOOD DISTRICT EFFORT GISBORNE HERD 591.8. The Mnnutukc group led with an average of -141 b. of butterfat in the Bay of Plenty and East Coast Herd Improvement Association’s performances lor the month ended November 2, while Die highest herd in the association was in the Gisborne group, with an average of 591 b.

All Gisborne' East Coast and Wairoa groups either equalled or exceeded the association average production, whicti was based on the performances of 30,902 cows. The following summary is provided for the district groups, together with the association averages:—

Gisborne group had the highest herd in the association for the month, a position this group has held for some time. The herd mentioned is only one of five cows, but the average production for the month was 591 b. Te Karaka and Tolaga Bay had herds of 20 and 18 respectively which averaged 481 b.. Manutuke a 14-cow herd with 4Glb.. and Wairoa a 10-cow herd with 421 b.

High Waiapu and Wairoa Herds

Among herds with 21 to 50 cows, Patutahi held top place with a herd of 36 cows and a production average of 531 b., next on the list being in the Wairoa group with 24 cows at 521 b., and in the Manutuke group with 521 b. from 45 cows. Te Karaka and Tolaga Bay at 511 b. from 23 and 46 cows respectively came close up, and the highest in the Bay of Plenty was only 461 b.

Waiapu led the herds from 51 to 100 cows with 501 b. from 57 cows, while 80 cows in the Wairoa group averaged 461 b., 81 in the Manutuke group 451 b., while 86 cows at Tolaga Bay reached 431 b., as did also a herd of 53 at Patutahi.
