SUCCESS OF FOREST GLEN The success of Forest Gleu in the Clarkir Hack and Hunters’ Steeplechase at Te Rap: not only caught the public napping but cam< as a big surprise to his joint owners, Messrs T. C. and H. W. Wilson.* The former am his wife had invested 10s each on the plact machine, while Mr. H. W. Wilson neglcctei altogether to support his representative. A Maori was a delighted participant in th( win dividend of over a century and a half the largest straight-out price yet recorded ai Te Rapa. It was a record dividena recorded in a steeplechase field that wa: probably a record for the Dominion. It was only the fifth public appearance ol Forest Glen, and his earlier form had no indicated that he possessed prospects. Hi: trainer, C. J. Carmont, did not favour hi: chances and lie was among the many lef lamenting as the sensational dividend wa: hoisted in the frame.
