DRILLING AT MORERE FASTER AT MIDHIRST The fortnightly bulletin of the New Zealand Petroleum Company, Limited, concerning the progress of drilling at the company’s sites at Morere and Midhirst, is as under: — “Morere No. 1 Well. —Depth GGB3H.; no change in formation. “Midhirst No. 1 Well.—Depth 9G77ft. no change in formation.” The last bulletin stated that Morere had reached a depth of Gsßoft. in black shale and sandstone, the progress in the meantime representing only 103 ft. At Midhirst the position a fortnight ago was that the drill had penetrated to 9383 ft. in hard mudstone, the interim progress being 289 ft.
