Mrs. J. H. Sherlock, Papanui, Christchurch, has received news of the death of her sister, Mrs. George Payton, Middlesex, England, who visited New Zealand some years ago. While in Christchurch Mrs. Payton stayed with Mrs. Sherlock, and made many friends there and also during her stay in Gisborne. She leaves a son, Second-Lieutenant-Laurie Payton, R.N., and a daughter, Doreen, wife of Lieutenant Alexander Turner.
