Aucklander’s Flying Record
A record for his station has been set by an Aucklander training for the Fleet Air Arm, Mr. Derek H. Lightbourne, who has flown solo on aircraft from his station in England after only 6 hours ip minutes of dual instruction. Mr. Lightbourriri,, a son of Mr. and Mrs. ;P. LigTitbourne, Herne Bay, is being trained on American aircraft, and he beat the -station record for flying solo by 35 minutes. In peacetime club flying, to go solo in up to 10 hours is considered a fair performance.
