WAINGAKE DANCE
(Herald Correspondent.) Despite the rain, there was a good attendance at the children’s fancy dress dance held by the Waingake School in the Manutuke Hall.
The programme consisted of folk dancing, Maori items under Mrs. Denis’ leadership, choruses and a play by the Waingake children, and an action song by the three Smith sisters. After, supper the chairman, Mr. Hall, thanked all the helpers and those who gave donations, and also Mrs. Piercy, who not only judged the costumes but donated several of the prizes. Mrs. Hall presented the following :nvnrds:-Best Costumes: Elaine Gibson i folly), Shirley Smith (drummer), '’rank Pilgrim 'Boy Blue), and Bobby
Hepburn (rajah). Most Original: Merle Sm'th (magpie), Rita Norris (bag of sugar), Toby Mine (swagger) and Billy Hepburn (golliwog). Best Tiny Tots: Valerie Hepburn (drummer) and lan Hall (cowboy). Messrs. Piercv and Maynard welcomed the Waingake visitors and congratulated them on a very successful function in aid of the dental clinic.
