TOKOMARU BAY NEWS

PRETTY WEDDING (Herald Correspondent.) Last Saturday morning in St. James Church, Tokomaru Bay, a quiet but pretty wedding took place when Mrs, D. Cullen, until recently of Dunedin, was married to Mr. Walter Crabtree. Hautanoa.

Mrs. Cullen, attired in a smart air force blue costume, grey hat, and accessories to tone, was attended by her sister. Mrs. T. Hautapu, who wore an attractive navy ensemble and navy accessories. Each carried pretty posies, the former's of lily-of-the-valley and the latter’s of rosebuds.

Mr. Crabtree was attended by his half-brother, Mr \V. Jackson, Gisborne. The Rev. Father Shcerin officiated. After the ceremony a reception was held at the residence of the bride’s niece and nephew. Mrs. and Mr. R. Ransley, Hautanoa, where the customary toasts were honoured. A delectable wedding cake was distributed among the guests, who included only relatives and close friends of the bride and groom. Mr. and Mrs. Crabtree left on a tour of the North Island. Their future home will bo in Hautanoa.

Miss Ford, who is a specialist in infant work and is employed by the Education Department, Wellington, was a recent visitor to Tokomaru Bay. Miss Ford visited both the public and native schools, and gave most interesting lectures to the staffs.

Miss Mulligan, dental nurse in charge of the Tokomaru Bay clinic, was a week-end visitor to Gisborne.

Mr. E. Corbett left on Friday to enter a training cadre in Palmerston North. Mr. Corbett is a member of the East Coast Mounted Rides, and as a Territorial has been called up for the duration of the war. Prior to his departure, he was met by the members of the Gisborne Sheepfarmers' Frozen Meat and Mercantile Company’s clerical staff, of which hr was one. and presented with a propelling pencil.
