NEW ARCHDEACON
The vicar of Matamata, the Rev. G. F. W. Oulds, has been appointed Archdeacon of Te Tai Hauauru in the place of the late Archdeason Hori Raiti. Archdeacon Oulds, who was born in London, came to New Zealand 32 years ago. He was a teacher in Maori schools before his ordination in 1934. He was curate at Rotorua before becoming vicar of Matamata in’ 1935. Archdeacon Oulds, who speaks the Maori language fluently, will become superintendent of the Church of England Maori Missions in the Waikato Diocese.
