SORTIES IN LIBYA
BRITISH PATROL UNITS BOMBING IN ABYSSINIA (British Official Wireless.) Reed. 1.30 p.m. RUGBY, Oct, 31. ‘At Tobruk, a heavy dust storm yesterday evidently interfered with enemy movement, as our patrols, continuing their operations over a wide area, met no opposition,” states a communique issued by General Headquarters, Cairo. “In the frontier area, our patrols were again active. All objectives were reached and fully reconnoitred and our patrols returned without sustaining casualties from the desultory rifle fire and artillery fire which they encountered.” A Nairobi communique .states: “The Royal Air Force on Thursday bombed trenches at Nora Dibra, north of Gondar. The South African Air Force carried out tactical reconnaissances. Reliable reports which are being received indicate that our recent bombing raids on the Wollaich area, north-east of Gondar, caused considerable casualties among the enemy troop concentrations. Our ground patrols continue their activities against the enemy outposts. “Another important Kamant chief has joined the Patriotic forces.” The communique adfls that it is probable the recent" unfounded rumours of the invasion of French Somaliland arose from minor disturbances amongst the Danakil tribesmen within the French border. Tribesmen are disgruntled because the Vichly French recently have been requisitioning their food supplies.
