PETROL IN AUSTRALIA
CANBERRA. Oct. 21 Because of international developments in the last fortnight, it is believed that there is practically no chance of an early increase in the petrol rations for private motorists. The Minister for supply, Mr. Beasley, em’phasised soon after he took office that the Government’s first responsibility was to build up defence stocks to a maximum. The increased Pacific tension has made it even more unlikelv that any more petrol can be diverted to private uses. 1
