The death occurred early on Thursday morning of Mr. Harry Prebble, Haig street, Wairoa, at the age of 54. He was a partner in the Wairoa firm of Prebble Bros. The record of service given by Mr. H. A. Mossman to the Hastings Retailers’ Association was referred to at a gathering of members of the association recently, when Mr. Mossman was presented with a gold badge representing life membership, in recognition of his 46 years as hon. secretary and treasurer. The president, Mr. J. E. Hall, recalled that when Mr. Mossman took up the secretaryship, a few years after he had commenced business in Hastings 50 years ago, the town had been small and the association, then known as the Holiday Association, was not very substantial'. However, his enthusiasm had been largely responsible for its growth, and it had been agreed that Mr. Mossman should receive the first life-membership gold badge. Messrs. Hugh Baird, C. Griffiths, H. G. Harvey and A. E. Westerman also paid tribute to the work of Mr. Mossman for the association.
