CHILDREN NEAR STREAMS

An inquest into the death of Turia Wilfred Kiripi, aged two, a Maori boy, was held at Taihape. The child had strayed and fallen into a stream near his home and was subsequently drowned. The coroner, Mr. E. Loader, in returning a verdict of death due to accidental drowning, stressed the fact that this was the second case where a child had been drowned in a stream in the district within a month. He declared that there should be more care and control where children were living near streams.
