BOTTLE IN STOMACH
REMOVED FROM BOY 10-MINUTE OPERATION (Per Press Association.) AUCKLAND, this day. A bottle measuring sin., which had become embedded in the lower portion of the stomach of Ken Rogerson, aged 14, residing in Great North road, was removed in the Auckland Hospital after a surgical operation lasting 10 minutes. The lad had the bottle in his mouth, and while sneezing drew it into his stomach. He did not inform. his parents for a fortnight, as he desired to compete in a cycling race, and it was only after the race that he felt an occasional pain. On informing his mother he was taken to hospital, where an X-ray examination revealed the bottle in the lower portion of the stomach and imbedded so as not to interfere with the digestive organs The operation was performed under a local anaesthetic.
“My only regret,” said Master Rogerson, “is that I shall be unable to cycle for a fortnight.”
