PROFIT OF £SO
HIGH SCHOOL FETE PARENTS’ ASSOCIATION The Gisborne High School Parents’ Association hopes to show a profit of £SO from the fete held at the school yesterday in order to raise funds to secure additional school amenities, including a cinematograph projector.
Parents patronised the iunction very well, and everything displayed for sale was disposed of readily, while competitions and games organised by the committee were well- patronised. The fete was opened by Mr. W. Bignell, president of the Parents’ Association, who congratulated those assisting to make the afternon a success on their splendid efforts. He also presented the sports cups to the pupils who had won them recently, and commented on the high standard which the school had attained in the field of sport. •
During the afternoon the committee took the opportunity of making a drive for new members for the Parents’ Association, and as a result the membership was practically doubled. Many present expressed themselves as anxious to hold another such function early in the year, as they were anxious that the school should secure as many improvements in equipment as possible.
Those conducting the stalls were:— Mystery parcels, Mrs. I. Boagey, old students; cakes and meat, Mrs. O. R. Olsen and Mr. J. Booth; sweets, soft drinks and ice cream, Mesdames W. D. Morley and G. Lockwood; flowers and seedlings, Mrs. V. F. Wise; competitions, Mr. F. Wickens.
