“In 20 years’ time it is possible that shareholders will be confronted with a much more attractive board of directors, and they may even be addressed by a female chairman and general manager,” said Mr. James Morton, general manager of the South British Insurance Company, Limited, at the annual meeting at Auckland, when paying a tribute to the work of the women employees of the firm. “Do not think that a girl’s work in an insurance office consists merely of hitting a typewriter,” he said. “Insurance work is not all brawn, and already women are doing very good work indeed.”
