OBITUARY

MR. F. W. B. BOUSFIELD OLD WAIROA RESIDENT The death occurred in Wairoa yesterday of Mr. Frederick Whitmore Brougham Bousfield, third son of the late Mr. O. L. W. Bousfield, Hawke’s Bay, and an old resident of the Wairoa district. He was 77 years of age, and leaves a widow and one son and three daughters. The deceased was born at Woodthorpe, Hawke’s Bay, his father’s property and at one time a centre of racing activity. Mr. Bousfield, sen., came to Gisborne when his family was still young, and took over Taurika station, at Repongaere. Mr. F. W. B. Bousfield was educated in Gisborne, and took up stock work almost immediately after leaving school. Like his father and brothers, he became an expert hand with stock, and after some years he moved to the East Coast, where he was employed by the Williams family for some time. He was an able drover, and had a remarkable record in connection with the overland driving of sheep from Hawke’s Bay to the Coast. For a time he resided in Hawke’s Bay, where he married a daughter of the late Major Richardson. He was a keen racing man, and at one time had interests in more than one good performer. During the past 12 months he had been ailing, and his death was not unexpected. The funeral will take place tomorrow in Wairoa, leaving his late residence in Kopu road at 2.30 p.m. for the Wairoa cemetery.
