The Rev. D. N. Pryor, minister-elect of St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church, Auckland, has arrived at Wellington from Southland. He will be inducted to his new charge shortly.
Colonel G. S. Peren’s appointment to the command of the Second Infantry Brigade is received with'regret by the Manawatu Mounted Rifles (motorised), the regiment having been brought to a high state of efficiency under Colonel Peren’s command. As the Second Infantry Brigade is part of the Territorial Force, Colonel Peren will, still be able to carry out his duties as principal of Massey College. Mr. A. E. Shone, who has retired oh superannuation from the maintenance branch of the railways, was recently entertained by the staff at a social evening and presented with a bag for Mrs. Shone and a set of pipes for himself. The stationmaster-in-charge, Mr. J. W. Fergie, made the presentation and congratulated Mr. Shone on his long period of faithful service. Dr. T. L. Paget, director of maternal welfare under the Department of Health, is spending a few days in the district on the business of his department. Yesterday he met the Wairoa Hospital Board to discuss matters in connection with the extension of the maternity home at the Wairoa Hospital, and to-day he was engaged with Dr. K, J. U. Davies, medical officer of health at Gisborne, on routine inspection business. Dr. Paget will visit the Waiapu Hospital district before returning south.
