THOROUGHBRED SALE
CHRISTCHURCH AUCTION At a sale of thoroughbred stock in Christchurch last week the 10-year-old stallion, Friday Night, a brother to Phar Lap, was sold to Timpany Bros., Southland, lor 200 gns., and a two-year-old filly by Friday Night from Creaseless was sold to R. and G. Dunlop, Matamata, for 30gns. The latter buyers also secured the three-year-old gelding Square Cut, by Winning Hit from Grey Vixen, for 32£gns. Two Paper Money two-year-olds, bred at the Mt. Barker Stud, Wanaka, solicited keen competition. One, a black lilly from Costume by Pink Coat, was sold to Mr. W. R. Adamson, Westland, for 220gjis. Mr. Adamson is owner of Jolly Time, who was bred at the same stud. A second juvenile, a bay colt from Fairwood, a half-sister to Tauramai, Rin Tin Tin, and Charmaine, was purchased by the New Zealand Farmers’ Cooperative Association as agents for 240gns. This colt will race at Mt. Barker. Noble Fox and Tidewaiter were cafTilogued, but were withdrawn from sale.
