SERVICE IN NAVY
Tiie Minister of Defence, the Hon. F. Jones, stated recently that it had been decided to open the Scheme B recruiting for service in the Royal Navy to married men with not more than one child. "It will be recalled," said Mr. Jones. ‘That under this scheme, men between Ihe ages of 20 and 30 having university entrance examination or equivalent can apply for entry in the first instance as ordinary seamen (hostilities only) for training in England, those suitable and recommended being considered for promotion to probationary temporary sub - lieutenants, B.N.V.R. Those not selected are required to serve lor the remainder of the war as lower deck ratings.”
