RACES ABANDONED
RICCARTON MEETING DECISION OF COMMITTEE (Pel- Press Association.) CHRISTCHURCH, this day. The Canterbury Jockey Club has decided to abandon the third clay of the Grand National meeting which was to have been held at Riccarton to-day. This decision was made at a meeting of the committee this morning and was arrived at for the following reasons: First, that the track is now unsafe to race on and would be for some days; and, second, that although the military authorities who were to take over the -course on Monday had agreed to meet the club in every way, the committee was reluctant in the circumstances to interfere with the arrangements made.
