QUEEN’S TRIBUTE
DOMINION FORCES AIRGRAPH TO EGYPT (Reed. Aug. 16, 10.30 a.m.) LONDON, Aug. 15. The Queen sent the first airgraph letter from England to the Middle East addressed to the Commander-in-Chief, General Sir Claude Auchinleck, saying, on behalf of women, “how constantly our thoughts turn to those under your command.” Included was a special message to the Dominion troops, in which she said: “Their valour has been the admiration of the world.”
