OBJECTS OF PEACE
“NOT OF VENGEANCE” CANADIAN LEADER SPEAKS (Reed. Aug. 16, 10 a.m.) OTTAWA. Aug. 15. The Canadian Prime Minister, Mr. W. L. Mackenzie King, said the meeting between President Roosevelt and Mr. Winston Churchill was bound to have a very important effect on world opinion. It could lead only to even closer relations in future between the British Empire and the United States. “The text of the declaration indicates complete understanding and co-operation in the prosecution of the war and complete agreement in the eventual objects of a peace of victory, but not of vengeance,” said Mr. King.
