LIFE IN ENGLAND
Life goes on calmly in England, although the people still have their occasional excitements, writes a resident of London to a friend in Auckland. “The extraordinary thing is how one gets used to things wh'cn once would have seemed unendurable,” the writer continues. “There is a fresh spirit abroad. One can’t exactly describe it, but one tiling that has come about is the fast disappearance of class distinctions and. the ready helpfulness on every hand. We feel we are all in it and its wonderful how that has united us.”
