RETURN TO COLLIERIES
40,000 FORMER MINERS
BIGGER COAL DEMNDS (Reed. Aug. 15, 11.30 a.m.) LONDON, Aug. 14. The Daily Telegraph says that before the end of the month about 40,000 miners will have returned to the pits to help the drive for increased production. They are expected to step up the output by 400,000 tons a month. It is estimated that an increased output of 500,000 tons monthly is necessary to meet the country’s winter needs. Most of the returning miners have been weeded out compulsorily from other industries.
