EIGHT-HOUR DAY NATIONAL DEFENCE WORK (Reed. Aug. 15, 9 a.m.) WASHINGTON, Aug. 13. President Roosevelt has suspended the eight-hour day law as applied to mechanics and labourers employed by the War Department on national defence projects, because of the urgent necessity for the completion of the programme as early as possible.
