MR. HULL RETICENT
VERIFICATION AWAITED RELATIONS WITH VICHY (Reed. Aug. 13, 3 p.m.) WASHINGTON, Aug. 12. Asked whether the granting of military concessions t<J Germany in French Africa might bring a rupture in relations between the United States Government and the Vichy Government, the Secretary of State, Mr. Cordell Hull, said the question would be studied when the Vichy situation v/as clarified, but he indicated unusual interest in the increased powers conferred on the Vichy Vice-Premier. Admiral Darlan, and said the United States wished to verify and see exactly the significance of the Vichy move before commenting on the affect on Franco-American relations.
