TE KARAKA DANCE
(Herald Correspondent.) Private Lloyd Jones, who is spending his leave with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. W. M. Jones, Te Karaka, was the guest of honour at a public function held in the Parish Hall on Tuesday evening. A dance programme carried out under the supervision of Mr. M. Fisher provided an enjoyable evening’s entertainment, music being contributed by Miss L. Ruru. On behalf of residents of the district, Mr. J. G. Appleton extended good wishes to Private Jones. Mr. S. S. Smithers, in presenting a gift from the Waikohu R.S.A., assured the recipient of the association’s unfailing interest in his welfare. A knitted comfort parcel with best wishes from the Girl Guide Company was presented by Miss Jean Rowley. Private Jones returned thanks in a brief speech. A dainty supper was served by lady members of the committee.
