IS MONTHS’ EXTENSION PASSED BY ONE VOTE (Reed. Aug. 14, 9 a.m.) WASHINGTON, Aug. 13. The House of Representatives passed the bill extending the period of military service by 203 to 202 votes. The passage of the bill means that military trainees, reservists and guardsmen will be retained in service for two years and six months instead of the original 12 months.
