ALLEGED PILLAGING
WATERSIDERS CHARGED THREE MEN REMANDED (Per Press Association.) DUNEDIN, this day. Two waterside workers, Edward James Duffy, aged 26, and James Horne aged 58. appeared before Mr. H. J. Dixon, S.M., in the Police Court yesterday. charged with having stolen a quantity of goods, the property of the Union Steam Ship Company. With them, William Clingan Fraser, also a waterside worker, aged 33, was charged with receiving stolen property. All three accused pleaded guilty. In asking for a remand until August 19, Detective-Sergeant Hall said the charges arose out of pillaging on the wharves and the offences were serious in the case of Duffy, who admitted having stolen goods valued at £ls. Some 25 to 30 receptacles must have been opened. The remand was granted, bail being allowed in all cases.
