Telephone Removals
The removal of the old telephones from subscribers’ premises in Gisborne was commenced immediately following the change-over to the automatic system early last month, and now practically all have been removed with the exception of a few in the outlying areas that will be collected as circumstances permit. When this work is completed little will remain to be done in connection with the establishment of the new automatic system except the removal of the underground cables in Customhouse street which were used during part of the period of installation to take the lines from the automatic exchange to the old manual boards. The removal of these cables is expected shortly. '
