SOCIAL FOR SOLDIERS (Herald Correspondent.) Despite the wet weather, there war .a good attendance at the Ormond Hal' on Monday evening to entertain Sappers P. O’Rourke and M. C Parsons. Dancing v/as enjoyed to music played by Mrs. Thomson, and an extre on the bagpipes by Mr. IT. Davidson The M.C. was Mr. J. Winning. A Monte ■Carlo waltz was won by Mrs. J. Winning and partner. Mr. W. Bowes wished the guests oi honour the best of luck, and Mr Roland Graham presented them wit! an engraved leather wallet, while Mrs G. Grayson, on behalf of the Ormonr Women’s Institute, presented their with a pair of socks. Sapper O'Rourke expressed thanks for the gifts. Sappers P. O’Rourke and M. C Parsons left for Trentham on Tuesday morning after Spending their leave with their parents.—Miss A. Olley har returned from a visit to Auckland.— Mr. J. Whittle, who has been spending a short holiday in Auckland, has returned to Ormond.—Private W. K Parsons arrived last night froir Trentham to spend his leave with hir parents, Mr. and Mrs. G. H. Parsons Ormond.
