RECORD TURN-OVER PIG MARKETING YEAR A record turn-over and an increase in stock handled in each department was reviewed at the annual meeting of the JNew Zealand Co-operative Pig Marketing Association in Hamilton. In all, 110,156 pigs were handled dill mg the season, an Increase of 1810 on the previous year. A total of 61 bobby caif pools had linked up with the association s national marketing organisation, a record figure or 328,745 calves being handled for the rmonths, an increase of 75,000 over the previous season. Cattle oil consignment on behalf of suppliers totalled 4304. this figure showing an increase of 1360 over the previous ’ year. In the three departments——pigs, bobby calves and cull cattle—the association handled a total of 443,295 carcases of an aggregate hooks weight exceeding 26,000,000 lb. on behalf of dairy-farmers throughout New Zealand. The income and expenditure account showed'. a g'-oss turnover for the season of £609,754 Is lOd, which Was the highest volume handled since the association s inception nine years ago and represented an increase of £85,665 on last years turnover. After deducting all expenses from , gross realisations mid after providing the usua Blmre capital reserve of l/16d a lb. on all pork supplied, there was a gross amount available for distribution on pigs of £334,150 Is- lOd, of which amount £310,946 6s 2d already had bee.V distributed to suppliers of pigs by way of advance payments.
