R.A.F. FIGHTER FUNDS NAMING OF SQUADRONS (British Official Wireless.) Reed. 9 a.m. RUGBY, Aug. 11. Three new Spitfire squadrons of the Royal Air Force have been given names of Indian provinces and States which have sent gifts of money to the Ministry of Aircraft production. Punjab, which has already given a total of nearly £200,000, has had its name allotted to a second Royal Air Force fighter squadron. Money is still coming in from this province. The first famous squadron, equipped with Hurricanes, was named in June last. The new Spitfires will soon be in action alongside their sister aircraft of the first Punjab squadron. From the States of Baroda and Bhopal has come a gift of £104,000, and the newly-formecl squadron of Spitfires is now carrying the name of Baroda and Bhopal squadron. The name of Mysore is now borne by another Spitfire squadron. Altogether, with previous gifts from various provinces and states, India has now contributed neaiTy £3,000,000 through its aircraft funds for new Royal Air Force fighters.
