GROWING REVOLT

TIDE IN BALKANS INVADERS PERTURBED GUERRILLA ACTIVITIES (Elec. Tel. Copyright—United Press Assn.) (Reed. Aug. 12, 9 a.m.) LONDON, Aug. 11. The Balkan invaders are seriously perturbed over the revolt movement which is gaining impetus daily, especially in Yugoslavia, says the Istanbul correspondent of The Times, wn adds that since the German attack on Russia the Germans and their satellites are calling any Balkan peoples who fight for their freedom Communists. Over 800 Yugoslavs were imprisoned in Bratislava during the last four weeks on the grounds that they were Communists. The Croatian and Hungarian Governments have been compelled to send forces against the Tchetchniks, who are mountain guerrilla bands, from Montenegro, carrying' out raids against isolated outposts, destroying the harvest and sabotaging railways and telegraphs. Their elusiveness is making repression difficult. Increasing numbers, including former officers of the Yugoslav Army are escaping to the mountains and joining the Tchetchniks. Destruction of Harvest The greater part of the harvest in Greece and Thrace has been destroyed by fire. Dalmatian patriots refuse to recognise the Italian occupation of Croatia. The Balkan ferment accounts for the visit of General Lizst. It is also reported that the Germans have lost faith in the Italian ability to hold down the Balkans and are considering the employment of Bulgarians. It is reported that ever-growing food difficulties are occurring in Czechoslovakia. Even regular rations are frequently unprocurable. Housewives cause violent scenes daily in front of the supply office. r
