Johnston, “Kamano,” Feilding, has returned to her home in Cambridge. Mrs. Brian Smith has returned to the Waimata Valley after spending a few days with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. C. A. SherrifT, Lyell road. \ Mrs. J. G. Appleton, Te Karaka, accompanied by her daughter, Mrs. R.J. Feltham, left last week on a visit to Raetihi. Miss E. M. Dowding is staying with her mother, Mrs. C. C. Dowding, ‘•Rangatiru.” while on leave from the Stewart Karitnne Hospital, Wanganui. Mrs. W. F. Metcalfe, Te Araroa. and her daughter, Mrs. B. Wright, Hick’s Bay, who have been visiting Gisborne, returned to the Coast to-day. Mr. C. I. B. Beckett. Auckland, who has been on an extended visit, to her sister, Mrs. W. F. Metcalfe. Te Araroa. left on Saturday for Hamilton. Mrs. R. C. Tukc. Riverside road, returned on Sunday from a visit to Auckland, where she was the guest of her mother, Mrs. T. Russell. Mr. and Mrs. C. Graham, Waimata Valley, and family, paid a visit to their beach cottage at Wainui at the week-end. The Misses L. and A. Cook, who have been the guests of Mr. T. Todd, Ballance street, returned to Auckland to-day. Mr. and Mrs. Vivian Smith, who have been the guests of Mrs. H. M. Brown, Harris street, left on Friday for Tokomaru Bay and Rotorua on their return to Taihape.

Mr. and Mrs. D. C. S. Hain, Wal- - station, Hangaroa, accompanied by their small son, were the weekend guests of the latter’s mother, MrsF. B. Barker, Wainui Beach. Lieutenant Alan Gunn, Royal Medical Corps, left for Auckland yesterday after paying a brief visit to his parents, Dr. R. McKenzie" Gunn and Mrs. Gunn, Wainui road. Supply Assistant W. N. Long, H.M.S. Tamaki, is spending his leave with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. C. J. Long, ‘‘Ti Toki,” Hexton. Two additional workers from New Zealand have been appointed to assist Miss Jean :Begg with her work for the Y.W.C.A. in the Middle East. They are Miss Betty Thorpe, of the Auckland branch of the association, and Miss Muriel Wilson, of the Christchurch branch. Spring flowers were artistically arranged by Mrs. 11. Carr at her home in Cobden street last night, when she entertained several friends at bridge. The chief guest was Miss M. Weathered, of the stall of the Gisborne telephone exchange, who has received advice of her transfer to Palmerston North. Slipper was served informally.
