TORCH OF OLYMPIA

BERLIN GAMES SOUVENIR GISBORNE BOY’S CAPTURE An interesting souvenir from Greece has just been received by Mr. and Mrs. C. S. Bruce from their son, Gunner Stewart Bruce, who fought in the Greek campaign. It is a souvenir of the Berlin Olympic Games of 1936, and takes the form of a torch holder in the model of that carried from Olympia to Berlin prior to the opening of the games. It is made of chromium steel and is a product of the Krupp works at Essen, which has been receiving much attention from the Royal Air Force recently. In a letter accompanying 1 the memento, Gunner Bruce is reticent regarding the manner in which it came into his possession, but he wrote that he disputed possession with a German, and he was sure the rightful owner had no further use for it. The letter was written on May 7, following the evacuation from Greece.
