LADY CARROLL TROPHY The Lady Carroll Shield, which has been played for since 1925 amontf teams of the eastern districts, remains in Napier, following a Wairoa challenge last Saturday. Poverty Bay lost the trophy to Napier last season, after winning four consecutive matches in 1939, and 1940, Napier’s win last year being that team’s second, the previous occasion being in 1934, when it wrested the shield from Ituahiue, who had held it without interruption since it was first competed for. From 1934 until last year Wairoa and Poverty Bay held the shield alternately, neither team withstanding more than three challenges.
