QUALITY OF FRUIT

INVESTIGATION URGED (Per Press Association.) WELLINGTON, this day. The House of Representatives to-day went into committee of supply to consider the estimates. Mr. W. J. Broadfoot (Nat. Waitomo) said that it was time the Health Department examined the supplies of fruit that were being released in this country, and he contended that in addition it was time that it should prosecute the Marketing Department for selling fruit unfit for human consumption. He referred to the increased prices of such fruit as oranges and bananas under the present administration, and said that some of them were not fit for human consumption.

The debate was interrupted by the adjournment at 1 p.m.
