/ JAPANESE EXODUS BUSINESS STAFFS (Reed. Aug. 8, 2.40 p.m.) SYDNEY, Aug. 8. Hurried preparations to leave Australia are being made by Japanese merchants, woolbuyers, and staff members of shipping, business and banking houses in Sydney and Melbourne. More than 100 have applied to leave by the liner Kasima Maru. Some firms will carry on at present with reduced staffs. Nearly all Japanese women and children who were living in Australia have returned to Japan in the last few months.
