RUAPEHU ACTIVE
Volcanic activity on Mount Ruapehu was plainly visible from Stratford on Monday. Great clouds of steam and smoke issued from the crater during the early morning, but towards midday activity decreased. A white cloud of vapour was easily seen from Stratford during the rest of the day. Visibility was particularly good.
