NEW GOVERNMENT

FORMATION IN IRAQ

BOY KING RETURNS

(Reed. June 4, 11 a.m.)

LONDON, June 3.

A Vichy message from Baghdad stated that Emir Abdul Illah, Regent of Iraq, has entrusted Jamal Madfai with the formation of a new Government.

Jamal Madfai has been appointed Prime Minister by royal decree, heading a new Ministry a majority of whom are known for previously cooperating with the British. Jamal Madfai, who is aged 55 ,years, is one of the elder statesmen and has been thrice previously Prime Minister. The Baghdad correspondent of the Daily Mail says that King Feisal of Iraq arrived from the Royal summer palace where he went with the Queen mother when the revolt broke out, thus disposing of reports that he is in Iran.

A Teheran report states that Raschid Ali has arrived there.

The Iranian press denied Axis press reports that the British Government is seeking permission to land troops in Iran to protect the Abadan oil installations.
