TRIBUTE BY PREMIER
MESSAGE TO CRETANS
(Reed.'June 3, 2.40 p.m.) Cairo, June 2
“I have never seen men in such fine physical condition," said the New Zealand Prime Minister, the Rt. Hon. P. Fraser, after visiting the transit camps of New Zealanders. The Greek Minister of Justice, who ■was the last member of the Greek Cabinet to leave Crete with the evacuating troops, sent a message to the Cretan people: "Major-General Freyber? asked me to express the admiration of the British and Imperial forces for the heroism and morale of the Cretans and also the Greek troops in these critica 1 hours. Your conduct was magnificent.” The Rome radio stated that the British prisoners in Crete included 500 Badly wounded.
