PATRIOTIC APPEAL OBJECTIVE OF £1.000,000 I Per STeaa Affectation.) WELLINGTON, this <iay. The total'sum received to date .for the £1.000,000 patriotic appeal is £832,100. according to the honorary Dominion organiser of the appeal, Mr. J. Abel, in a statement issued last night. In the last 10 days the .fund had increased by approximately £27.000, Mr. Abel said, the main sources being ~s follows: Southland. £10,000; Otago, £8000; Auckland. £-1000; and waste products, £SOOO. In the Wellington province, Feildina and Wanganui were the two largest /ones which are still working to raise their quotas. The Auckland metropolitan carnival was well into its stride, and many thousands ol pounds were already in hand but not yet shown in the provincial total. The metropolitan objective was U2j, 000. Canterbury. Southland. Westland, and Otago were still conducting their anneals, and Wairarapa was nearly s(j per cent over its quota with £20.210 in hand. . The figures were: Wellington, £205,000; Auckland, £174,000; Canterbury, £109,000; Otago. £88,000; Taranaki £69,000; Hawke's Bay, £54.200; Nelson, £37,300; Southland, £30,500; Fast Coast, £2,000; Marlborough, £lB 900 - Westland, £14,200: miscellaneous’. £5000; total, £832.100.
